Type: Inlaid and glazed encaustic clay tile of sandwich construction.
 
Description: Decorated glazed tile in neo-medieval, ecclesiastical style with maker's marks to the rear. From the Hans van Lemmen Collection.
 
Design: Winged bull with banner proclaiming '+ St Luke +' in an octofoil and square combination and with trefoil spandrels.
 
Colours: Blue, dark red, white and buff.
 
Dimensions: 6" x 6" x 1" (154 mm x 154 mm x 15 mm)
 
Condition: This tile has been broken and repaired and now shows a hairline crack also chips, nibbles and surface marks (see photos).
