Type: Inlaid and glazed, pressed dust circular tile or roundel.
Description: Glazed commemorative teapot stand or trivet with maker's marks impressed to the verso and some print-through from another similar tile beneath during firing. To celebrate the 21st birthday of John Stanhope Arkwright of Hampton Court, Herefordshire.
Design: "John Stanhope Arkwright - AET 21 - July 10 1893." at centre with surrounding decoration of acorns and oak leaves within a banded border.
Colours: Blue, brown, white and pale green.
Dimensions: 6" x 9/16" (155 mm x 15 mm)
Condition: Nibbles and some crazing/craquelure (see photos).
Note: John Stanhope Arkwright (1872 - 1954) was the great great grandson of Industrialist Sir Richard Arkwright He served as MP for Hereford between 1900 and 1912.
