Date of Manufacture: Minton date mark for November 1865.

 

Type: Inlaid encaustic clay tile of sandwich construction.

 

Description: Decorated floor tile in neo-medieval style with maker's marks and date stamp and 25 stabbed holes to the rear. From the Hans van Lemmen Collection.

 

Design: '1865' and two florets in a cardinal quatrefoil with foliate corners.

 

Colours: Terracotta red, blue and buff.

 

Dimensions: 6" x 6" x 1" (151 mm x 151 mm x 24 mm)

 

Condition: Good overall with nibbles and surface marks but the lower right corner has been damaged undereath and shows evidence of an effective repair (see photos).
